Walks in Sologne
Mont-Pres-Chambord is a gateway to the Sologne, its woods, its ponds and its secret paths.
You will discover on foot and at your own pace the Sologne, its 3 ponds and their ecological, historical, cultural and economic roles. Lovers of hiking or cycling, you will enjoy many routes nearby or during visits to the Country of Castles. At the reception you can get the circuit map.
At the gates of state forests
The Lodges are located between two large state forests. The forests of Russy and Boulogne totaling 7 hectares. They are traversed by large alleys and paths. The places will enchant you then especially in autumn, at the time of the picking of mushrooms and the famous slab of the deer. You will finally admire the spectacle from the observatories distributed in Chambord forest. So you will appreciate every moment away from the daily pollution to recharge your batteries and simply take a deep breath. You will rediscover the taste for walking and contemplation. You will therefore discover Sologne in a different way and will have a great experience.
A land of castles
Finally, follow in the footsteps of the past by visiting the sumptuous castles of the Loire. Chambord, Chenonceau, Cheverny, Beautiful eyes et Chaumont-sur-Loire… Or the Blois castle famous for its openwork Renaissance staircase.
Visit also the Maison des étangs in Saint Viâtre. It is installed in typical Solognote houses.
Blois is full of exceptional historic buildings. The gardens and rose garden of the former bishopric, on terraces overlooking the Loire, for plant lovers… Or the Beauvoir Tower which is a former prison.
When we think of Sologne, we first think of true, authentic, wild and elegant nature. In the early morning, it reveals its lights and its dew to us. The great outdoors, trees, walks and horseback riding… Inspiration comes easily at the crossroads.

A long story
It was the Romans who were at the origin of the cultivation of vines in the Loire Valley, two millennia ago. The appellation areas thus extend from Contres in the south to Saint-Laurent-Nouan in the north, and from the gates of Blois in the west to Bracieux and Chambord in the east. The soils are very varied. Sandy, clayey, clayey-limestone, clayey-loamy, marly… They allow several grape varieties to express their personality.
For the whites: Sauvignon Blanc and Gris, Chardonnay, Chenin and Orbois. And for the reds: Pinot Noir, Gamay, Cabernet Franc, Côt or Malbec.
White only, this unique grape variety was planted on the initiative of François 1er.
It finds its expression on the sandy soils of the 11 communes of the appellation.
