La Flotte-en-Re

La Flotte-en-Ré is one of the most beautiful villages in France. It is also one of the oldest and most beautiful villages on the island. Formerly a fishing village, La Flotte en Ré has retained its authenticity and character over the years. With a remarkable heritage and architecture, you will walk through its picturesque and flowery streets to the port. First known for the cultivation of the vine, La Flotte en Ré gradually transferred its commercial activities to the maritime trade of wine and salt. Nowadays it is a popular port for yachting and local fishing. Go to the medieval market. Visit St. Catherine's Church and the island's old electrical factory. Villages and alleys
