The Périgord Vert is considered the most beautiful and rich region of the Dordogne. the abundant vegetation, the many waterways and the hilly region will be an ideal environment for all lovers of wide open spaces. In close proximity to your camping, from Abjat sur Bandiat, several hiking departures are available.

Routes close to camping

  • Route 1
    Allow 1h30 for this 6 km hike from the tourist office. You will follow part of the GR 4 and cross the village of Laulandie. The GR4 is the legendary hiking trail linking the Atlantic to Provence. It thus passes through the Dordogne and the Périgord.
  • Route 2
    Departing from the Abjat tourist office, this 10 kilometer hike takes about 2 hours to walk. You will cross the Bandiat stream and the village of Fargeas, with its fountain and traditional bourgeois houses. Don't miss the view of the old Abjat mill!

Itineraries in the Périgord Vert

  • The Good Fountains of Cussac
    Easy hike of about 3 hours and just under 10 kilometers in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park. This circuit will take you to the heart of the Limousin villages of Haute-Vienne, along oratories, fountains and prayer trees. They are the witnesses of the traditional religiosity of the region. 
  • Bucolic mouth of Javerlhac at the Saint-Robert chapel
    Medium difficulty hike of just over 14 kilometers for 4h50 in the heart of the Périgord Vert. You will stroll between cultures, paths, small roads with little traffic and typical Périgord villages, admiring its cultivated and wooded valleys.

The Bandiat watercourse, 28 kilometers long, is classified as 1Features category to the Villejalet bridge in the town of Saint-Martin-le-Pin. He is in 2e downstream category. Fishing with natural bait, fly and casting is authorized there.

 

Fishing in Périgord

The ideal positioning of camping within the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park will allow you to benefit the many rivers in the area suitable for fishing. You will mainly encounter upstream of the Villejalet bridge, brown trout, perch, gudgeon, roach, minnows, bleak and eel.

    Covering an area of ​​5 hectares, it is classified in 2e category. The fishing license is compulsory. 
  • The Miallet lake or Miallet dam
    This 77-hectare lake, classified as 2e category, will delight carp fishing enthusiasts. You will also find pike, zander, perch and black-bass.

Under the shade of Périgord Vert

This difficult route, of about fifty kilometers, will take you to discover the Périgord Vert. The start is located in the city of Nontron, a famous cutlery city since the XNUMXth century.e century. You will stroll between forests and bodies of water, discover the pond of Saint-Estephe and the waterfalls of the Dronne, but also the village of Piégut Pluviers and its medieval tower. You will also cross many typical villages of Périgord Vert with a rich historical heritage.

 

In the footsteps of Brantôme

This easy 30 kilometer route begins with the famous village of Brantôme surrounded by the arms of the Dronne. Founded according to legend by Charlemagne, you will fall under the spell of its abbey with Romanesque origins. You will stroll among the villages and hillsides of the region, passing by the castle of Richemont, the former castle of the lord of Brantôme.

The Flow Bike

This 290 kilometer cycle route connects Thiviers to the Ile d'Aix by crossing the Périgord Nontronnais and the municipalities of Javerlhac-et-la-Chapelle-Saint-Robert, Saint-Martin-le-Pin, Nontron and Saint-Pardoux-la -River. Between Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière and Thiviers, travel 17 kilometers on the old railway line, through the enchanting landscapes of Périgord Vert.
