Alpine or Provencal atmosphere, it's up to you to choose from Camping Frédéric Mistral. At the heart of the Verdon Regional Natural Park, Castellane is at the gateway to the Parc des Préalpes d'Azur and on the road to the Mercantour National Park. Allos and starting points to the summits are only an hour away by car.
The Verdon is obviously the star of the region. It must be said that it is none other than the largest canyon in Europe, nestled in the heart of a southern region and at the crossroads of Mediterranean and Alpine influences. A little corner of paradise…
- Castillon lake
The emerald waters of this artificial reservoir will leave you speechless. At 900 meters above sea level, this lake is a real haven of peace surrounded by mountains.
- Lake of Sainte-Croix
At the crossroads of the road to the Alps, Provence and the Côte d'Azur, this lake extends over 22 km2. It is the largest of the lakes fed by the Verdon.
The fortified city of Entrevaux has kept its charm of yesteryear. The narrow streets, the royal gate and the drawbridge take you back to the Middle Ages. Do not miss the ascent of the Citadel. At its summit, the view of the village and the Var valley is exceptional.
At the gates of the Gorges du Verdon, this Var village is one of the most beautiful villages in France. Surrounded by terraces of olive trees and hills, it is famous for its craftsmanship and especially earthenware.
Lake and river sports
The Verdon is obviously the place of all the pleasures in white water. Rafting, canoeing and aquatic hiking are on the program. On the lakes of Castillon, for softer sensations, there is room for sailing and paddleboarding.
Provençal paths or alpine paths, there really is something for everyone. Walkers will be delighted by the many opportunities for discovery in this territory.
Cycle tourists never tire of the winding roads of the Route des Crêtes. But mountain bike enthusiasts will not be left out. Between gorges and lakes, the marked trails, passes and peaks follow one another almost endlessly.
For a paragliding baptism, the Verdon is a must. Several flights are possible around Castellane. Above the gorges, the lakes or the pre-Alps... You will have to choose, but the show will inevitably be there!
Several climbing sites are simply legendary. The cliffs of the Gorges du Verdon await you from La Palud-sur-Verdon. In Annot, it is the sumptuous bouldering site that will delight you.
The Verdon is also well known for its trout. In the river or on the lakes, you will fish from the banks or in a float-tube, casting, toc or fly.
