With an area of 582 km2, Lake Geneva is the largest alpine lake in Europe. It offers diverse and varied fishing spots. Thanks to the Franco-Swiss concordat on fishing in Lake Geneva, the limitations are the same in Switzerland and France. It is mandatory to have a fishing license for Lake Geneva. The only fishing authorized without a license is fishing with a fixed cork (one line per person). Fishing licenses for Lake Geneva are on sale at most kiosks. You can buy a yearly, weekly or daily permit. The perch is the emblematic fish of Lake Geneva. It is eaten on the terrace by the lake.

Lake Geneva has two restaurants rewarded by the 2017 Michelin Guide: Ô Flavors 1 * in Douvaine and Raphael Vionnet in Thonon les Bains. The gastronomy of Lake Geneva is linked to the terroir of Chablais, with its recipes based on Abondance cheese. Wine from the south shore, made mainly from the Chasselas grape variety, produces recognized crus: Ripaille, Crépy, Marignan and Marin.
